Recipe (single coupe)
2 oz Southern Comfort
¾ oz sweet vermouth (Carpano Antica or Martini & Rossi)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Garnish: brandied cherry (Luxardo) and an orange peel
Method
Add Southern Comfort, vermouth, and bitters to a mixing glass with ice. Stir — don't shake — for about 20 seconds until well chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Drop in the cherry. Express an orange peel over the top and lay it in.
Named for Pappap. He drank Southern Comfort Manhattans — a sweeter, rounder take on the classic. This one's for him.
